Should I modify the A record and reverse DNS to point to the Public IP on the Cisco Spam Blocker

That is correct. You want the blocker to be first in line for your email handling so that it can filter and inspect properly and then deposit the filtered mail to your mail server. And as you say, youll want the PTR record to match.

Its important that you have A & PTR records set correctly. Failure to have correct reverse dns is a major problem for many senders of mail. There are some good guidelines on the internet around other best practices that are worth reading, including: - MAAWG - sender best practicehttp://www.maawg.org/about/MAAWG_Sender_BCP/MA ... ombine.pdf Not all may be relevant however its an excellent source of things to consider for sending mail to the internet - Gmail POstmaster http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answ ... swer=81126 Jason
