confusion on transmit power

Postby Guest » Wed Dec 01, 2010 10:43 am

hi

im reading the data sheet of my access point and am a little confused

"Transmit power @ normal temp range for FCC:

#

802.11b: 16 dBm @ 1TX, 19 dBm @ 2TX, 20.5 dBm @ 3TX

#

802.11g: 13 dBm @ 1TX, 16 dBm @ 2TX, 17.5 dBm @ 3TX

#

802.11n: 17 dBm @ 1TX @ MCS0~5/8~13, 13 dBm @ 1TX @ MCS6/14"

i basically understand everything except "@ 1TX" or "@ 3TX". whats a "TX"?

thank you

markus

Hello,

Tx should be Transmitter. Like Rx is Receiver.

1Tx means one antenna, 2Tx means two antenna.  There are no 3rd transmitter out yet I believe.

However you have 3 Rx.

Hope it helps.

Brendon

Hi Brendon,

I don know what those TX means. However, in 11b and 11g there is no way to have more than 1 transmitter. Even a 1242 with 2 antennas in diversity, there is only 1 antenna transmitting at a time, so Im suspicious that this would be the meaning.

Only in 11n, you have 2 antennas transmitting at the same time, and no 3 yet.

Regards,

Nicolas
