ME3400 Interface Speed

Postby Guest » Tue Nov 17, 2009 12:36 am

I have a bunch of ME-3400G-2CS-A switches and Im getting drops due to having 100Mb on one side and 1Gb on the other side as explained here:https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2061963?tstart=0.

I have put in the service policy to amend the Queue limits, but Im still seeing drops.

We have one site which is 1Gb on both sides, and this has no drops.

So as a workaround, Id like to manually configure the "inside" of the switch to manually be 100FDX.

However, the interface won accept the speed/duplex commands. I am using the built-in RJ45 port, not the SFP port, but I suspec the switch sees both as the same physical port, so Im hitting this issue..

Can someone please confirm

You have to configure MEDIA-TYPE RJ before set the interface speed 10/100/1000.

This sound like:

interface GigabitEthernet0/1
media-type rj45
speed 100

Thanks. So **** simple! I thought that as the box had correctly figured out it was live on the RJ45, then I didn need that line.
