Renaming a Zoneset, what impact?

Postby Guest » Thu Jan 01, 2009 9:06 am

What is the impact of renaming a Zoneset? Does it take any/all of the Zones off-line?

Thanks

Hi,

Renaming a Zoneset (without changing/adding/deleting any members under the zones) normally is non-disruptive operation since all the devices are already logged-in to the Fabric and there is no change in the programming ACLs. But still you may want to do it during the maintenance window.

Here is the CLI command syntax:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/mds9000/sw/4_1/configuration/guides/cli_4_1/zone.html#wp1261590

Thanks,

Ozden
